Baltic Nuclear Energy Forum 2025
March 18-22, European Solidarity Centre, Gdańsk
The Baltic Nuclear Energy Forum serves as a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences on innovative solutions in nuclear energy. After the success of the first edition, we invite you to the next instalment: Synergy for Nuclear – How to Effectively Utilize Regional Capital in the Development of Nuclear Energy?
The forum gathers key experts, government representatives, scientific institutions, and industry leaders, providing an opportunity to share experiences on nuclear technology development, legal regulations, and international cooperation models. The second edition of the conference will be held under the theme: Synergy for Nuclear – How to Effectively Utilize Regional Capital in the Development of Nuclear Energy?
During thematic sessions, we will focus on local content, a concept referring to the involvement of local resources—such as workforce, services, and materials—in nuclear projects. Other commonly used terms include “local contribution” or “domestic participation,” emphasizing the use of local resources and expertise to support regional economies and increase public acceptance of nuclear energy projects.
In the context of infrastructure projects, such as the construction of nuclear power plants, local content involves requirements for a portion of the work to be carried out by national companies or using domestic materials, supporting local industry development and job creation.
Key Topics of Discussion
Lectures and panel discussions will cover topics such as:
- Regulations supporting local content in nuclear energy
- Implementation strategies and the development of infrastructure accompanying nuclear power plant construction, creating opportunities for local businesses
- Workforce development for the nuclear industry and the enhancement of skills among local leaders
- Social dialogue and the long-term vision of nuclear investments’ economic, social, and climate impact
Miłosz Motyka, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Climate and Environment, who has joined the BNEF Program Council, commented on the conference:
This is an extremely important initiative—one of dialogue, exchange of thoughts, and experiences between government and local authorities, NGOs, civil society, and scientists. No one should be left out in the energy transition process. Every voice must be heard and understood, even if it is critical.
Nuclear energy is part of the energy transition. Without nuclear power and its cooperation with renewable energy sources, Poland cannot achieve an energy transformation. We firmly believe that Poland will greatly benefit from nuclear energy.
The Baltic Nuclear Energy Forum is designed for a broad audience, including public administration representatives, business leaders, and scientific communities. The conference also attracts experts from Poland and abroad, fostering valuable partnerships in the nuclear energy sector. It is the perfect venue for those who want to stay up to date with the latest trends and solutions in the energy sector.
The European Nuclear Society and the Polish Nuclear Society (ENS Member Society) are among the institutional patrons of BNEF 2025.
