Technical Tour

On Tuesday 15th October, participants will have the possibility to participate in the PIME technical tour and visit the ITER site in Cadarache, near Aix-en-Provence.

ITER is one of the most ambitious energy projects in the world today. In southern France, international cooperation among more than 30 countries aims to build the world’s largest tokamak, a magnetic fusion device that has been designed to prove the feasibility of fusion as a large-scale and carbon-free source of energy based on the same principle that powers our Sun and stars.
The experimental campaign that will be carried out at ITER will be crucial to advancing fusion science and preparing the way for the fusion power plants of tomorrow.
Schedule

The site visit should take place between 9 am – 3 pm.

Further details will be shared in the coming weeks.

ABOUT Aix-en-Provence

Bathed in the light of its Mediterranean climate, Aix-en-Provence is a city with a rich history, beautiful architecture, and baroque splendour. The former capital of Provence is famous for its colourful festivals, festivities and traditions, Provencal markets and delicacies, amazing surroundings and colourful landscapes. Not by chance, the French painter Paul Cezanne found inspiration for his masterpieces in Aix, his hometown.
