Westinghouse Signed a Nuclear Fuel Licensing Contract For Kozloduy NPP
Westinghouse Electric Company and Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant signed a VVER-1000 nuclear fuel licensing contract for the Kozloduy power plant in Bulgaria.
The licensing process of Westinghouse fuel is a key safety pre-condition for nuclear fuel delivery, and it has to be completed in compliance with the Bulgarian Nuclear Safety Regulatory Agency requirements and local regulations.
Kozloduy NPP said that the contract is part of the station’s efforts to diversify its fuel supplier portfolio as required by the European Union’s energy security strategy, diversification plans which are coordinated with the Euratom Supply Agency (ESA).
