The Lithuanian Nuclear Energy Society Is A New ENS Member Society
Following the approval of the General Assembly, ENS is glad to welcome back the Lithuanian Nuclear Energy Society (BEA), which became a new Member Society of the European Nuclear Society, effective starting from 1st January 2023.
The Lithuanian Nuclear Energy Society (BEA – Branduolinės energetikos asociacija) was established in 1999, and it has been an ENS Member Society until 2020 when it suspended its activities.
Back active after two years, BEA today counts almost 20 members among nuclear and energy experts and professionals (from the Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI), the Kaunas University of Technology, Ignalina NPP…) and 3 legal members – the Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI), Toromega and Tecos.
BEA’s main activities include the information transfer between its members and the organisation of lectures and presentations concerning nuclear energy for school and university students.
As Lithuania is interested in the development of SMR concepts and considers SMR as a possible solution to compensate for the lack of energy generation in the country, BEA has also started to organize seminars about this innovative nuclear technology.
It is great to see such a renovated activism of the Lithuanian Nuclear Energy Society. We look forward to fruitful and active cooperation together once again.
