Budapest Research Reactor
The Budapest Research Reactor is the leading research infrastructure in Hungary and it is one of the largest in Central-Europe. Scientists at BRR have decades of tradition in using neutron beams for neutron scattering investigations, as well as neutron-based element analysis and imaging. BRR is a VVR-type (water-cooled, water-moderated reactor) of Soviet design and construction: it went critical for the first time on March 25, 1959.
he reactor is being operated by the Centre for Energy Research of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The Budapest Neutron Centre (BNC) consortium was formed in 1993, with the participation of the neutron-research-related laboratories on the KFKI science campus.
Bay Zoltan Foundation for Applied Research
Bay Zoltan Foundation for Applied Research is an institute suited to carry out efficient applied technological and scientific research and development. The aim of the institutes’ innovative activity is to develop and adapt technologies, subsequently transferring them with added value. A new aim of the Foundation is to support the popularisation and teaching of certain modern industrial and agricultural technologies by establishing Demonstration Centres. A further important task is to train researchers who will be capable of fulfilling the new expectations set by the globalising market and R&D, through supplementing the Ph.D. courses of universities.

Frédéric Joliot Curie National Research Institute for Radiobiology and Radiohygiene (NRIRR)
The Institute has become the professional centre of the country for radiation health. The NRIRR organizes training courses in the following topics regularly: treatment of patients injured in radiological/nuclear incidents and accidents and radiation protection for workers
During the courses, the lectures, presentations, and the examination (tests) are in Hungarian language.

Atomic Energy Research Institute (AEKI)
AEKI is a research institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences mainly active in the field of basic and applied research related to nuclear energy.
The main research areas of AEKI are reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, fuel behaviour studies, material sciences, related aspects of informatics (simulators, core monitoring, etc), health physics, environmental investigations, nuclear electronics and chemistry.
Institute of Nuclear Research (ATOMKI)
ATOMKI is the Institute for Nuclear Research, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The institute was established in 1954 by Sándor Szalay.
ATOMKI became independent from the Institute of Experimental Physics of the Kossuth Lajos University (presently called University of Debrecen), where Sándor Szalay started and directed nuclear physics research for decades. At present, the main research fields of Atomki are atom-, nuclear-, and particle physics, ion beam analytics, technique of detection and signal processing, environmental analytics, radioactive dating, radiochemistry, and solid state physics.
