Ansaldo Nucleare Strengthens Cooperation With Italian Universities
Ansaldo Nucleare (ENS Corporate Member) will cooperate with CIRTEN, the Consortium of Italian Universities involved in nuclear science and technology research activities, by supporting doctoral scholarships in collaboration with Sapienza University of Rome, Politecnico di Milano and University of Pisa.
The PhD scholarships will be funded under the country’s PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan),
Ansaldo has recently hosted Professors Marco Ricotti (Politecnico di Milano and ENS High Scientific Council Member), Walter Ambrosini (University of Pisa) and Fabio Giannetti (Sapienza University of Rome) for the second meeting within the doctoral collaboration with CIRTEN.
During the meeting, professors presented the opportunities offered by the scholarships, a great possibility to drive innovation and support the next generation of nuclear experts.
The PhD students will develop research programmes focused on cutting-edge technological solutions for water-cooled Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), Lead Fast Reactors (LFRs) and fusion reactors.
In particular, they will take care of design and analysis of passive safety systems to optimize plant safety at a competitive cost, support the design and numerical analysis of experimental research facilities for the validation of calculation codes used in nuclear safety analysis, in addition to the verification and investigation of complex multiphysics processes on the operation of superconducting magnets for fusion reactors.
The PhD project provides a period of stay for students in Ansaldo Nucleare, where they will continue their research activities in close contact with the company’s experts, as well as an experience abroad that will take place within research centers or other companies.
