EDF Submits Planning Application for Sizewell C
EDF has submitted an application to the Planning Inspectorate to build two new EPR units at Sizewell C in Suffolk, southeast England.
Once operational, Sizewell C will supply around 6 million homes with always-on, low carbon electricity made in the UK.
Low carbon nuclear power will support more renewables and will help the UK keep control of the transition to ‘net zero’ emissions.
Moreover, the new nuclear power station will bring a huge economic boost to the East of England and strengthen the UK supply chain following the Coronavirus pandemic.
If approved, the construction will create 25,000 employment opportunities and 1,000 apprenticeships.
