NUCLEAR MARATHON

THE 15TH WONUC NUCLEAR MARATHON

Since the first edition of this marathon took place in 1996, between the cities of Paris and Brussels, this annual event, organized by WONUC employees, has been held in Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania, Germany, Russia, Sweden, Bulgaria, Lithuania and, in the last three years, outside Europe: Cuba, Japan and Brazil.

End of June 2010, 438 nuclear power plants were in operation and 61 under construction world-wide. Most of the nuclear power plants were equipped with light water reactors.

As of 30th June 2010 in 30 countries 438 nuclear power plant units with an installed electric net capacity of about 372 GW are in operation and 61 plants with an installed capacity of 59 GW are in 16 countries under construction.
